GENERAL GUIDELINES:

The Friends accepts donations of gently-used books and other materials to sell in order to raise funds  for AADL programming.  All donated materials must be in saleable condition. Please review the guidelines below for more information on what we accept. If items you are donating do not follow the guidelines, please be prepared that we may not accept them.

  • Donations should be bagged in clean, paper grocery-sized bags, or boxed in clean small, cardboard boxes (such as small moving boxes or banker boxes). We cannot take reusable bags or plastic bins. They will be returned to the donor.
  • We do not accept more than 2 bags/boxes of CDs, 3 bags/boxes of DVDs, or 10 bags/boxes of books at a time.
  • Items must be in generally good condition: free of mold, mildew, smoke and pet odors, dust, and cobwebs. No books with ripped or missing pages or covers, loose pages, or broken spines, highlighting or handwriting.
  • Puzzles and board games must be complete with no missing pieces. CDs and DVDs must be scratch-free, sets must include all discs, and must come in their original unbroken cases.
  • Particularly if boxes have been stored in a garage or basement, please check them for insect infestation, rodent damage, or droppings. We obviously cannot accept these.
  • Please be sure to leaf through all books and other materials to remove valuable items such as photos, checks, cash, and important documents before donating your materials. FAADL is not responsible for lost valuables or books donated in error.
